Queen Elizabeth National Park
Uganda has four National Parks with savannah and Queen Elizabeth National Park is one of them. The park offers lovely scenery with the Rwenzori Mountains in the background. It has almost 100 mammal species and a remarkable 606 bird species. Within the park we find for example elephants, a hippos, the elusive giant forest hog, lions, leopards and Uganda kob.
The main activities in Queen Elizabeth National Park is a boat-cruise on Kazinga channel and game-drives. During the boat-cruise you get the chance to see elephants, hippos and buffaloes enjoying the water. A game-drive lets you search for the animals of the savannah.
We can of course not write about Queen Elizabeth National Park without mentioning Ishasha. This is the southern sector of the park that is famous for its tree-climbing lions. A game-drive here gives the excitement of searching the big fig trees for lions! Its such a special sight to see a big cat resting peacefully as it balances of a branch.
Other activities here include chimps trekking in Kyambura gorge or the nearby Kalinzu forest. For the birding interested the varied habitats of the park offers several ticks.
