Day by day itinerary for our 3 day Gorilla tracking in Uganda safari:
DAY 1: TRANSFER TO BWINDI IMPENETRABLE NATIONAL PARK
Meet your guide and start off early from Kampala for your 3 days gorilla trekking in Uganda safari, be prepared for a long day in the car. Along the way you will make a stop by the equator for some photos and have lunch in Masaka or Mbarara depending on the time. Continue on through the countryside to Bwindi mountains with a beautiful drive up the hills. We reach the lodge for you to relax before the next days great trekking adventure.
Overnight in Buhoma Community Rest Camp
DAY 2: GORILLA TREKKING DAY – BWINDI IMPENETRABLE NATIONAL PARK
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is the home to the forest giants that are cousins to human beings, the mountian gorillas. Have an early breakfast before setting off for your gorilla trekking adventure with a specialized guide. Besides the gorillas this Impenetrable Forest is full of birds, butterflies and plant species plus forest hog, forest elephants, statungas and dikers. Enjoy the walk through the forest and spend one hour around the gorillas. After the gorilla trek your guide picks you and you start the beautiful journey down the mountains, through the neck of the impenetrable forest, past cultivated hills, through villages and on to the lodge at the edge of Queen Elizabeth NP’s southern sector where the second night of your 3 days gorilla tracking safari will be spent.
Overnight in Topi Lodge
DAY 3: TRANSFER TO KAMPALA
After breakfast you set off towards Kampala. Have lunch along the way. Get back to Kampala in the late afternoon/evening after meeting the Gorillas of Uganda as we finish your 3 day gorilla trekking in Uganda safari.

We recommend to plan for a 3 days Gorilla trekking safari as a minimum. This gives you enough time to travel to and from Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and a day dedicated to the Mountain Gorilla trekking. Most of our visitors chose to experience Uganda by travelling by car to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for the 3 days gorilla trek, but there is as well a fly-in option for gorilla trekking.

What animals can I expect to see in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park?
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a forested national park. On the slopes of the mountains you trek to see the Mountain Gorillas. Other animals within the park include blue monkey, duikers, sitatunga, bushbuck, giant forest hog and forest elephants.
Can you do birding in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park?
Yes, it is possible to go for birding in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Here we find birds inhabiting heights between 1400m- 2700m and a range of Albertine rift valley endemics. Popular locations for birding include Buhoma waterfall trail, “the neck” of the forest and Mubwindi swamp.
