In Queen Elizabeth National Park you can enjoy a boat-cruise on Kazinga channel. Kazinga channel is 36 km long and connects Lake Edward and Lake George. Many animals come to the channel to drink and take a bath so a cruise definitely gives you some great sightings.
Be ready with your camera as you search the banks and water for crocodiles, elephants, birds, hippos, buffaloes and more. It is truly a joy to see how much the animals enjoy the water.
Queen Elizabeth National Park
Queen Elizabeth National Park is a savannah park in the west of Uganda. Since it has almost 100 mammal species and a remarkable 606 bird species, it is a common stop on safairs. Here you find elephants, hippos, giant forest hog, lions, leopards and handsome Uganda kob among others.
Activities here include the boat-cruise on Kazinga channel mentioned above, which is something you shouldn’t miss. Another activity that should be included is at least one morning or evening game-drive. Plan so you do atleast one game-drive in Ishasha, the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park that is known its tree-climbing lions. The habit of regularly climbing trees is a rare behavior for lions and a very special sight. While in the southern sector you also get the chance to possibly see big herds of topi, buffalo and elephant.
Besides the sightings of savannah animals this park also offers possibilities for birding and trekking of chimpanzees. In Kyambura Gorge, which is a jungle within a gorge in the middle of the savannah, there are habituated chimps. There is as well the possibility to trek chimps in the nearby Kalinzu Forest. For birders the park offers mixed habitats with savannah, water and jungle.
