The latest addition to Woodland Lodges, our chain of lodges in Uganda, is Topi Lodge by Ishasha. This lodge is located close to the wilderness of the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, just a 5 min drive from the southern gate. Here you get views in to the park on one side and out over the scenic landscape with mountains in the distance on the other side. If you are looking for a lodge with great value for money in Ishasha this is the perfect place for you. Our aim with Woodland Lodges is to offer outstanding service at comfortable safari style lodges in close to nature locations and this is what you get at Topi Lodge.
Topi Lodge hosted its first visitors at the end of 2018 and has since continued to develop into a lovely lodge by Ishasha. Here you stay in spacious rooms with a private verandah and en-suite bathroom. The rooms are designed with local materials when possible and decorated with crafts for a lovely ambiance. The lodge is set in a remote area with nature just outside your door. You can enjoy birds singing and scenic views. In the restaurant we serve tasty meals with a local touch. If the weather allows it is possible to sit out on the terrace to dine under the stars or to enjoy the sunrise in the distance as you have your breakfast.
Activities in the area include the highlight of a game-drive in Ishahsa searching for tree-climbing lions. To regularly climb trees is a rare behavior for these big cats; Ishasha is one of only two places in Africa where the lions have this habit. It is very exciting to drive between the big fig-trees and look up into the branches to see if there are any lions there. Besides the lions a game-drive here can offer you sights of buffalo, elephant, topi (the antelope that is that our lodge is named after) and other interesting animals. For the one interested in birds Queen Elizabeth National Park hosts an impressive bird list of 606 species. In Ishasha you have the chance to tick off Lappet faced vulture, Marshal eagle, larks and the rare Dusky blue flycatcher on River Ishasha. If you have some free time around the lodge we can offer you a village walk to see Ugandan countryside life.
