Paul and our visitors had a nice meeting with Lions in Queen Elizabeth National Park yesterday. They are out on our popular 7 days Uganda safari with animals of the savanna & Mountain Gorilla trekking. This safari includes a stay at Pumba Safari Cottages from where Paul and the couple have explored Queen Elizabeth National Park with a game-drive and boat-cruise.
During the afternoon game-drive yesterday Paul could offer our visitors a nice lion sighting. These big cats are really a highlight during a visit to the park!
Queen Elizabeth National Park
Queen Elizabeth National Park is a top safari destination in Uganda, located beneath the majestic Rwenzori Mountains. The park boasts nearly 100 mammal species and 606 bird species.
Wildlife highlights include elephants, many hippos, the rare giant forest hog, lions, leopards, and the Uganda kob. A boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel is a must. This 36-kilometer waterway links Lake George and Lake Edward. During the cruise, you’ll see hippos, buffaloes, elephants, and a variety of birds.
Lions in Queen Elizabeth National Park
Queen Elizabeth National Park offers the chance to see lions during a game-drive. This “Big 5” member is an impressive sight. If you have an extra interest in lions it is possible to participate in lion tracking in the main part of Queen Elizabeth National Park. This is an exclusive experience where you go along with a scientist to track lions.
In the southern Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park we find the special tree-climbing lions. The lions here have the rare habit of regularly climbing trees. So during a game-drive here you keep the eyes in the big fig trees to hopefully sight a big cat lazily resting up there.
