Pictures from Mountain Gorilla trekking in Bwindi

Mountain Gorilla trekking in Bwindi. Finally it was time for the highlight of Mountain Gorilla trekking. Below we follow along to see what one of our safari teams in August saw while Mountain Gorilla trekking. They headed out into the impenetrable forest in the Ruhija part of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. There they ended up getting a bit of a hike but were rewarded with a great sighting of the mysterious mountain gorillas.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is 331 sq km and consists of thick rain-forest. In the local language (Lukiga) Bwindi actually means impenetrable. This park is world known for its Mountain Gorillas and the possibility to trek them. Here groups of Mountain Gorillas have been habituated to people.

Despite the name impenetrable a trek here is well worth the effort considering the beautiful nature and possibility to see the Mountain Gorillas. During Gorilla Trekking you get the unique opportunity to meet the endangered mountain gorillas in their natural habitat in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

While the Mountain Gorillas are the main activity here there are other options too. These include to go for a guided forest walk, a walk with birding focus or to make a visit to the Batwa people. The Batwa people traditionally stayed in the forest of Bwindi, making their living from what the forest could offer.

Take a look under “safaris” in the menu above for several options on safaris including gorilla trekking.
