Awhile ago Tony took a boy and his grandparents on a safari adventure in Uganda. a Safari with children in Uganda to see the animals of the savanna a great childhood memory. the safari adapted to fit children by making the driving times shorter, staying at least two nights at each place and planning for some free time for games.
The safari Tony and his safari team went on started with a night in Kampala after an evening arrival to Entebbe. Next day they started off towards the crater lakes area by Kibale forest. There they spent the next day enjoying the beautiful area by taking a nature walk where different monkeys spotted. With kids on safari a daily checklist is important as an expert safari guide tries to help the kid to identify the invertebrates and vertebrates encountered in their habitats emphasizing the importance of respect to them as they also have several reasons to enjoy the ecosystem.
Kibale area endowed with a great diversity including amphibians like the square marked toads, reptiles, insects, birds and being the Primate city of the world, Jelle the youngster got to meet some of the top primates of the area. Getting fascinated by the feeding-socio ecology of the Red colobus monkeys, black and white colobus plus how successful the Vervet monkeys have become ahead of the rest in raiding crops from farmers around.
Tony also introduced some basic geology to this child on safari talking about the age and formation of the Mountains of the moon and the kasenda volcanic craters.
Next in line on this safari with children in Uganda was a drive southwards to Queen Elizabeth national park. To spend a few days exploring the area. Here there was time for a game-drive, a cruise on Kazinga channel, chimps trekking in Kalinzu forest. A village walk and free time for games at the lodge.
Along on the safari was both a football and badminton rackets to entertain the youngest visitor. A chimp trekking adventure is a nice option to gorilla trekking. When with children on safari (depending on the age of the children). Since gorilla trekking is not available for children due to age restrictions.
Our team headed for Kalinzu forest, close to Queen Elizabeth national park, where a group of chimpanzees habituated.
Walking in the jungle and finally getting to see chimps in the wild is a real adventure for a child (and for adults as well!). There was off-course time for a classic game-drive too. The excitement of looking out over the savanna to spot fascinating animals fits any child.
The journey then continued on to Lake Mburo national park to search for zebras, giraffes and leopards. Here there a safari walk offered that works great to take with children.
Last on the itinerary was a couple of nights at Ssese islands in Lake Victoria. A perfect place to relax before leaving Uganda. While on Ssese Island Tony and the team took the chance to go for an evening fishing experience. As well as play games on the beach.
Heading back to Entebbe for the flight everybody was happy with their safari adventure. Uganda is a perfect destination when travelling with children since we can offer variation in what you see and a mix of activities to keep it exciting for the children on safari.
Exotic animals, fascinating nature and interesting culture as in this safari be mixed with games and enjoying by a swimming pool.
