Let see some moments from a safari to Kidepo. Earlier this year an Austrian couple who have traveled with us before returned to Uganda for a safari to Kidepo Valley National Park. This is the most remote park in Uganda, located in the far north of the country. Kidepo Valley National Park is known for its untouched nature and stunning views. Here zebras, giraffes, lions, ostrich, elephants, cheetah, leopard and more are found roaming the savanna.
The couple were staying three nights in Kidepo Valley National Park so they had plenty of time to explore it. They spent their nights at Apoka hostel bandas, which is a budget level option inside the park. Straight from the bandas it is likely to spot some interesting animals. During their stay they went for game-drives as well as a walking safari. This is one of two national parks in Uganda where a walking safari is possible, the other one being Lake Mburo National Park.
Safari to Kidepo Valley National Park
Kidepo Valley National Park is located in the north of Uganda towards the borders to South Sudan and Kenya. It is the most remote of Uganda’s national parks and few tourists find their way here. Therefore the lucky ones who do have a special experience of untouched wilderness.
Kidepo is rich in big game so a game-drive here can give you a great experience and the nature is more like that of our neighbor Kenya. Meaning it has a landscape with big planes of savanna. Within the park 77 different species of mammals and 475 bird species can be found. Some of the big mammals that can be found here are lions, giraffe, buffalo, zebra, elephants and leopards. If you wish for a destination in Uganda few tourists reach, head for a safari to Kidepo.
Itinerary suggestions: 5 days Kidepo safari, 8-days Northern Uganda or 16-days Uganda from North to South
