In Lake Victoria there is an undiscovered paradise called Ssese Islands. This is a great place to finish off any safari in Uganda, relaxing by a swimming pool with amazing views out over Lake Victoria. Ssese Islands is an archipelago consisting of 84 islands of which Bugala Island is the biggest and the most visited. When here you can go for a walk discovering the island, relax at the lodge, go for a guided boat ride to a neighboring island, explore the island with a canoe or play volley ball on the sandy beach. If you have an interest in birds Ssese islands offers nice bird watching opportunities.
Ssese Islands is reached by a 3 hour boat ride from Entebbe or a 15 minute ride on a car ferry from a harbor close to the town of Masaka. If coming from a safari in the west of Uganda the best route is to take the car ferry on the way to the islands and then when leaving the islands you take the boat straight to Entebbe connecting to the airport from there.
