The question of what to wear on safari in Uganda is one that will come to mind for most visitors heading to Uganda for a safari. A simple answer to this is to bring comfortable clothes that can take a bit of dust. As for the Ugandans themselves the way of dressing differs with everything from modern clothes to traditional dresses being seen on the streets.
The temperature here in Uganda is pretty stable all through the year (in most parts of the country it rarely falls below 20 degrees Celsius), so based on this light clothes such as shorts, light pants, skirts and t-shirts are most of the time enough. With this said it is not suitable to wear to short skirts, dresses or shorts, to respect the culture here make sure that they are at least knee length.
As an addition to light wear you should bring something that covers you up like a long sleeved shirt and long pants to get protection from malaria carrying mosquitoes as well as some cool weather in the evenings. For the feet sandals or sneakers works fine. Other than this it is good to think of having something to put on your head as protection from the sun and maybe a light long-sleeved shirt in case you get too much of the sun.

WHAT TO WEAR IF YOU ARE GOING TO HIGHER ALTITUDE
The exception temperature wise is if you are going to spend time at a higher altitude, for example to go gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable national park or visit Lake Bunyonyi. For these areas temperatures can drop so that it gets cool and you need at least long pants and a warmer sweater to put on.
WHAT TO WEAR IF YOU ARE GOING TREKKING
When you are going trekking for chimps or gorillas there are some extra needs for the list of what to wear. To protect from bugs and scratches in the jungle you should wear long pants and a long-sleeved shirt. Also bring along good hiking boots to manage the trek without trouble. You should as well have socks long enough to tuck your pants inside (in case you meet safari ants this is needed). In your backpack it is good to bring along rain-gear just in case.
