DAY 1: Fishing on Lake Victoria
The day of fishing on Lake Victoria starts in the morning when you meet your specialized fishing guide for the day in Entebbe and set off with the boat. Your big target of the day is to aim to catch a Nile Perch.
Pick up from Kampala and transfer to Entebbe can be arranged if needed (let us know when booking if you wish this service so we can include it in your price).
The Nile Perch is a predator that feeds on fish and an adult fish can get to the length of 1.37 m (4 ft 6 in). In fact the Nile Perch has been introduced to Lake Victoria and is seen as one of the worlds 100 most invasive species. Despite this (or maybe thanks to it’s success) it has become one of the important food fishes in the area.
During your day on the lake you will be taken to a prime fishing area and enjoy the peace of being out on the lake. Hopefully you make some good catch as well.
Options & recommendations
There is a half and a full day option for fishing depending on your preference. Included in the price is boat (wooden canoe, fibre glass or luxury boat options), fishing equipment, specialized fishing guide and lunch for the full day option. Remember to take along sunscreen if needed as well as sunglasses and a hat to protect from the sun. It is as well good to bring along a rain jacket just in case.
Make it a weekend away!
If you wish to combine your fishing in Lake Victoria with a weekend away we recommend a night or two at Tilapia Lodge across the bay from Entebbe. At this peaceful safari style lodge you stay close to nature with views of Lake Victoria from the restaurant.

Shoebill Stork at Mabamba swamp – 1 DAY
Look for the prehistoric looking Great Shoebill Stork during this day trip to Mabamba Swamp close to Entebbe. Together with a specialized guide you explore the channels of the swamp in a canoe in search of the Great Shoebill Stork. Sighting the special bird is a great experience for both birders and non-birders.
Ziwa rhino sanctuary – 1 DAY
Escape to nature and an exciting meeting with the impressive rhinos. Leave Kampala in the early morning, go with a specialised guide to trek the rhinos on foot and then enjoy a lunch before driving back to the city.
Lake Mburo safari – 2 DAYS
Take a short safari to Lake Mburo National Park to experience wildlife, scenery and recharge energy in the peaceful park. In the park you have the chance to see zebra, giraffe, impala, buffalo and leopard among other fascinating animals.
