What wildlife can I expect to see during this Northern Uganda safari?
This safari visits both Kidepo Valley National Park and Murchison Falls National Park, giving you excellent opportunities to see elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, antelopes, hippos, crocodiles and many bird species. In addition, both parks are home to lions and leopards, while Kidepo is one of the few places in Uganda where you may also spot cheetahs. Finally, at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary you’ll track southern white rhinos on foot, completing your chance to see all of Uganda’s Big Five.
What cultural experiences are included?
This safari combines outstanding wildlife with authentic cultural encounters. First, at Sipi Falls you’ll visit the Sebei community and take part in a traditional coffee experience. Later, in Karamoja you’ll meet the Karamojong people, visit a traditional manyatta (homestead) and learn about their cattle-herding culture and daily life.
Can I combine this safari with chimpanzee or mountain gorilla trekking?
Yes. For example, we can extend the itinerary to include chimpanzee trekking in Budongo Forest, near Murchison Falls National Park, by adding one extra night. Alternatively, if you would like to include mountain gorilla trekking, we can continue the journey south to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park or Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. In this case, the extension normally requires at least three additional days, depending on the route and activities you choose.
Can I add white-water rafting on the Nile in Jinja?
Absolutely. In fact, we can add an extra night in Jinja before the safari begins, giving you a full day to experience world-famous white-water rafting on the River Nile. Alternatively, you can choose from several other adventure activities in the area.
Is this safari suitable for first-time visitors to Uganda?
Yes. In fact, this itinerary is ideal for travellers who want to discover a quieter and more authentic side of Uganda.
